William "Bill" Schultz joined the Army on the DEP 24 Sept 1977. Bill went to Combat Engineer OSUT the day after he graduated High School on 26 June 1978.  His 1st duty station was in B Co 588th Engr. Bn. at Ft. Polk, LA. He was there 78-79. Then, he went to A Co 2nd Engr Bn. Camp Castle, Korea. He was the commander's driver until his promotion to sergeant. Then the "higher powers" put me in the motor pool as shop foreman because it needed to be filled. Shortly after, the Motor Sgt.  left on emergency leave so they made me the Motor Sgt. ( E-7 slot held by a new Sgt.) And I didn’t even have the MOS for the motor pool. When the motor Sgt. showed up I went back to a line Plt. as a squad Ldr. In Jan 1982 I went back to B Co 588th Engr. Bn. at Ft. Polk. I ETS’d 13 December 1984.
